Clean & Reasonably priced & superiorly powered with a 50hp oil injected Nissan this MacGreagor 26 'X' can be seen at our yard in Memphis on the northeast corner of US 78 and I-240 just minutes from the Memphis Airport.
Rollerfurling, Wheel, Bimini, Chartplotter equipped and including still serviceable bottom paint , uniquely this lightly used MacGregor 26X will make a fine addition to your family.
Your wife will enjoy the headroom, enclosed head compartment with a fairly new porta-potty, fabric cushions on the interior and the cockpit cushions for the cockpit. And for certain the entire family will enjoy making memories together creating a life time of experiences.
Fair to say that this "FRESH WATER" MacGregor 26X is ready to sail. She includes Main, Jib (on a CDI Rollerfurler complete with UV on the edges), mainsail cover and Bimini. She even has a mast raising system.
Every thing is in serviceable condition and ready to get you on the water - - you'll find her a great value. Make a reasonable offer and you will be sailing ! ! The price shown does include a trailer as the owner bought the boat without the trailer as trailering was of no interest but found out that his plans of coastal cruising would demand a trailer to get her there. Otherwise the boat has been in the water in a slip in North Mississippi for a lot of it's life. And cosmetically she is attractive with the exception of some thin gelcote around the topsides just showing the dark structure below a bit. But for 10,900.00 (or close) you'll, again, find her a great value and ready to sail right now.
If you just need the boat relocated and set up, Rooke Sails can be of help.
Qualifying as a 2nd home for a tax deductible Low payment loan, let the government assist in your purchase. Somewhere around 125.00 to 150.00 per month will buy this power yacht. Lot's cheaper than Golf ! !
The MacGregor 26X is a great way to introduce yourself to sailing with your family and Rooke Sails is in a position to take this boat in trade in 2 months or 2 plus years later if you decide to purchase a larger new or used yacht that we can supply.
The 50 hp Nissan also will give you confidence in easing into sailing and obviously adds excitement to your kids for towing them on a tube behind the boat. Great parameters for many a family's recreation.
Take a look at the photos and you'll see a VERY nice, pretty interior that will bring a smile to your first mate and the good stability that this M26X offers. Please contact us for 'how to proceed from here'. We will be happy to help you in any way we can. If sailing is your future, IT'S time to make YOUR MOVE ! !

The Biggest Pros and Cons
The 1996 MacGregor 26 "X" is a versatile and popular trailerable sailboat known for combining sailing performance with powerboat capabilities. Here are some of the pros and cons of this model:
Pros
Dual-purpose design: The MacGregor 26 "X" functions both as a sailboat and a motorboat, featuring a powerful outboard motor that can propel it at speeds up to 20+ knots under power, making it great for quick cruising or water sports.
Trailerable: Its relatively light weight and retractable keel make it easy to trailer, launch, and retrieve, offering flexibility in choosing sailing locations without needing a marina slip.
Spacious interior: For a 26-foot boat, it offers a surprisingly roomy cabin with sleeping accommodations for up to six, a small galley, and a portable head, suitable for weekend cruising or overnight stays.
Easy handling: The boat’s design allows for simple sail handling, making it accessible for beginners while still enjoyable for experienced sailors.
Shallow draft: The retractable keel allows for shallow water navigation and beaching, expanding the range of cruising grounds.
Cons
Compromised sailing performance: While versatile, the dual-purpose design means the MacGregor 26 "X" doesn’t perform as well as dedicated sailboats, especially in heavier winds or rough seas.
Build quality: Some owners note that the construction materials and finish are more utilitarian, which may require regular maintenance and upgrades to improve durability and comfort.
Limited headroom: The cabin headroom is somewhat restricted, which can be uncomfortable for taller individuals during extended stays below deck.
Weight limitations: Although trailerable, the boat’s weight requires a suitable towing vehicle and proper preparation for safe transport.
Storage space: Storage for gear and provisions can be limited, so careful planning is necessary for longer trips.
Made For
The 1996 MacGregor 26 "X" is ideal for sailing enthusiasts seeking a versatile and affordable trailerable sailboat. It is perfect for individuals or families who want a boat that combines the convenience of easy transport and launching with the ability to cruise comfortably on lakes, bays, and coastal waters.
